On the fuel side, EG Group is a partner of well-known brands such as Esso, BP, Shell, and Texaco. On the services side, it has established links with Starbucks, Burger King, Subway and also Pomme de Pain in France. Euro Garages, part of EG Group, is now operating in excess of 67 Starbucks restaurants, 153 Subway sub-stations, and 104 Greggs bakeries.
The challenge
Euro Garages prides itself on keeping ahead of retail and industry trends, including a growing consumer tendency to look toward smaller, convenient stores for coffee or snacks. Seeing an opportunity to work with the convenience arm of a major supermarket chain, they chose to trial their convenience stores in six sites.
The project to trial the six new stores involved coordination between several technology suppliers for the two companies. The stores needed to be able to fully integrate their systems to ensure sales, stock, and promotions data was transferred seamlessly with minimal downtime or disruption. Crucial elements such as new product codes and price files needed to be coded into the POS and back office systems in store to ensure new offerings were introduced and managed smoothly.
The solution
Euro Garages had been using the Oracle convenience and fuel POS and back office systems in their estate for many years. They needed a supplier they could trust to implement the integration necessary to facilitate the new convenience stores in the six sites. The TLM team were engaged to oversee and support the POS and back office integration of the new stores and ensure a smooth transition.
Trusted supplier
Guy Bickerstaffe, group director of development at Euro Garages said, “TLM has supported our estate both directly and as a contractor to Oracle for over ten years. In that time, we found them to always be a responsive technology partner who will very often step in with solutions where others have failed. They have been instrumental in recent projects providing vital system integration services and solutions with innovation and flexibility.”
Bob Laidlaw, business development director at TLM said, “We were delighted that Euro Garages trusted us with the systems integration of such an important trial. At TLM we have an experienced team with invaluable in-depth knowledge of the POS and back office systems that Euro Garages uses…we are proud to support such a successful player in the fuel industry.”
