TLM upgrades back office technology at 80 Mace stores.
TLM provides critical support and technology solutions to convenience and fuel retailer.
Founded in 1986, Costcutter Supermarkets Group employs over 600 people at 2,600 stores. Costcutter Supermarkets Group’s commitment is to help independent retailers thrive with world class service and retail brands that provide an outstanding range and price.
The challenge
Following the agreement that Costcutter Supermarkets Group would take over management of former P&H symbol group, Mace, the business needed to change the ordering system that the Mace stores were using to bring it in line with their own. This meant that they needed to upgrade the back office system software and hardware in over 80 Mace stores.
The stores were using the Oracle Convenience & Fuel back office solution formerly known as Prism. They needed to be upgraded to Prism 2 to be able to access Costcutter Supermarkets Group’s order system. There was a very tight timeframe in which to complete the upgrades and move each store to the new ordering system in order to avoid any disruption to the retailers – the whole project had to be delivered in a matter of weeks.
David Morris, director of IT at Costcutter Supermarkets Group said, “We needed to roll out this upgrade of both hardware and software as quickly as possible so that our retailers could join the new ordering system. Being able to complete orders is crucial to the smooth running of their businesses so the upgrade of these stores was extremely critical.”
The solution
Costcutter Supermarkets Group enlisted TLM to upgrade the back office software and hardware at the 80 Mace stores. TLM’s team of engineers and support specialists worked in cooperation with Oracle to obtain the new software licenses. They then installed the new software onto new back office machines and delivered and installed those machines at each of the stores, within the necessary timeframes to meet Costcutter Supermarkets Group’s deadline.
The client knew they could trust the TLM team to implement the upgrade with maximum efficiency, having worked with them before on similar projects. “TLM was the perfect supplier partner for this project,” continues David. “The high level of experience and expertise in their team is a great comfort when you are looking at this kind of large roll-out – you need to know that the supplier knows what they are doing!”
Efficient and professional
The upgrade project was completed on time, and the 80 stores were quickly up and running with their new Costcutter Supermarkets Group ordering system. “We were extremely impressed with the attitudes of everyone we dealt with on the TLM team,” David said. “The engineers and service team were responsive, flexible, and professional, and most importantly the speed of delivery was remarkably efficient.”
